Music Organizations: Belles and Beaux, University Chorus, and Universi - ty Singers communicate through song Singing at Harding has long been a tradition. Whether it came in the form of classical, spiritual or contemporary music, Harding students had a way of communicating messages through song. The University Singers, Belles and Beaux, and University Chorus easily displayed these characteristics this year. The University Singers met twice a week. They had many activities for the year. They sang for the Lion's Club in Cherokee Village, at Christmas concerts in Searcy, and at the Christian College Choral Festival at David Lipscomb Unversity in Nashville. They also worked with the choral conducting class in the spring semester. The Belles and Beaux were a public relations agent for Harding University. They performed concerts in schools, churches, and for many civic groups throughout this part of the country. They went on two 272 Bonded Impressions major trips t his year. One trip consisted of a tour to Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida, while the other was a tour of Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri . The Chorus had a purpose of blending educational , ent ertaining, inspirational and public relations factors. They were involved in many activities for the year. They took two tours this year. Their January tour included t he Christian College Choral Festival in Nashville, with stops in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Canada, Michigan, Illinois, and Missouri . Their May t our consisted of a trip to Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri. They performed spring concerts on campus featuring the works of Vaughn Williams and Howells.
