Program PASS Provides Learning The Learning Assistance Center offered a variety of programs that provided help for the greenest of college students to the veteran on the eight-year plan. PASS, Program for Academic Success, was established as one of the many aides to Harding students. PASS, in its second year, allowed students to develop study skills necessary for college level work and graduation. Dee Bost, the PASS coordinator, worked with fellow staff members Jeanine Alexander, Eddie Campbell, and Linda Thompson. Graduate assistants as well as undergraduates provided free tutoring for any students who signed up. Debbie Lightfoot, graduate assistant, said, "the PASS program offered classes and labs that helped many of our students who wanted to improve their writing and studying skills." Classes offered included English, reading, math, and study skills. Most of the courses were taken for college credit as electives. Those who wished to expand their vocabulary, solicited help in a specific area, or just learned time-management as it applied to general or specific subjects, have successfully accomplished this through the PASS program. It was not only important to these staff members that students sit in class but that they "PASS." -Susan Vaughn P.A.S.S. Program 261
