The Annual Fall Ethics Seminar, open to all seniors in the School of Business, offered an opportunity to hear people who were successful in the business world speak on how their faith was related to their business success. The American Studies program opened the year with an outstanding line-up of speakers, including Edwin Meese, former U. S. Attorney General. The 18th Annual Management Seminar featured Dr. John Lee, who spoke about "Time and Self-Management." The Economics Team won the Regional Students in Free Enterprise Competition and a cash prize. The group went on to place in the top ten at the National Students in Free Enterprise Competition in Kansas City, Missouri. The team also developed a comprehensive Directory of On-Campus Entrepreneurs. Titled "Student Body, Inc.", it listed students offering a broad range of services to their classmates. The Center for Professional Sales, directed by Dr. Randall McLeod offered its first courses toward the new B.B.A. degree in Professional Sales. The program was unique in its design and purpose and no other degree program like it is now being offered in the nation. Harding's chapter of the American Marketing Association provided members with professional experiences in the work world. Guest speakers were brought to the campus and the students visited marketers on their work sites. Members gained valuable leadership experiences and skills by serving as officers and on committees.
