College of Arts and Sciences Department of Physical Science Barden Joins Staff, Williams Retires A new program was established this year for the physical science department. Harding was selected above other universities in the state of Arkansas to be the location for the J.0.V.E. program. Harding will. be working with the Huntsville branch of NASA to process information received from satellites in outer space beyond the planet Jupiter. J.0.V.E., an acronym for Joint Venture, will equip Harding with a complete computer station base. This base will allow students to work with NASA as well as allowing interaction with many other universities across America. In addition, the Physical Science Department also received a grant for $67 ,000 from the National Science Foundation. This grant will pay 50 percent of the cost for all new equipment that the University will need to participate in the program. Dr. Don England served as chairman of the department and also was an elder of the College church of Christ. Gregg Barden was new to the physical science faculty this year. He served as associate instructor of physical science. Dr. William Williams who served as chair- . man of the physical science department from 1960-1988 retired this year after being at Harding for 57 years.
