Mass Communication majors earned degrees in advertising, print, journalism, public relations, and radio/television. This year marked the return of Mr. Robin Miller, who had spent the previous three years earning his Master of Fine Arts in Theater at Memphis State. Mike James was on leave of absence at Florida State University. Three people from outside of the department also taught this year. Mr. Tommy Jackson, editor of the Daily Citizen, instructed news writing in the fall. Sharon Pitt of the academic faculty taught basic communication. Classes in article writing and public relations case studies were led by Dr. Heber Taylor. On November 1, the department held its 3rd annual Communication Day. "Guest speakers from the professional world addressed majors on topics of interest to them," explained Dr. John Ryan, head of the department. "It was a big success."
