In only his second year as Dean of the College of Bible and Religion, Dr. Carl Mitchell made many positive contributions. In early November, Mitchell was involved in a mission trip to Central America. This was a wonderful experience for those involved and a powerful tool in spreading the Gospel. Dr. Dean Priest returned for his eighth year as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Since his College was the largest in the university, Priest's job was very demanding. Priest worked with NASA on a project that will benefit education through satellite technology and continued to provide as much student assistance as possible. The School of Business benefited from the outstanding leadership of Mr. George Oliver as Dean of the School of Business for the second year. In the past, he served as a member of academic committees, Director of the Center for Professional Ethics and as a Training and Development Consultant to corporations. Bt.Jsiness students learned a great deal from Oliver and many were encouraged in their chosen field of study. Thirteen was not an unlucky number for Dr. Cathleen Shultz as she served her thirteenth consecutive year as Dean of the School of Nursing. She also served on the Arkansas Board of Nursing for a second year. Shultz continued to make positive influences in the lives of her students by inspirational example and teaching. Dr. Bobby Coker complet ed his twelfth year as Dean of the School of Education. Coker, a Harding graduate, made many contributions to education in Arkansas. He was involved in making educational reforms for the state and served on the Board of Examiners of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. This was an important achievement to the many education majors who hope to teach one day. Coker, as well as the other deans, continued to uphold the university's motto of "Educat ing for Eternity". by Vicki Bell Academic Deans 233
