President Dr. David B. Burks Burks Fourth Year as President Sees More Changes "Ahead of schedule" was how Dr. David B. Burks described changes that were made in his fourth year as president of Harding. The changes were part of a "five year plan" to "upgrade facilities for students." Perhaps the most significant development in the physical plant was the construction of the Brackett Library, which was dedicated October 15. Burks said that a library is "the heart of an institution as far as academics goes." He noted that it will be a "boost to have it 226 Guided Impressions computerized." Other developments in the past year included the renovation of four dorms. Burks said that six of the 10 dorms on campus are now "practically new" and that all of them are air-conditioned. He said that this was all a part of a continuing effort to provide better services for students. "It's important to be interested in what students are doing," Burks said. "That's why Harding is here." by Myleea Hill
