FOOTBALL FAN: Tiffany Cook, Shannon Banks, and Cindy Jones perform a well practiced cheer. The Cheerleaders put in hours of practice so that they could do their best when they were cheering for the Bisons. No Way But the Bison's Way Being a cheerleader at Harding University was not all fun and games. It took determination to give when it hurt and the ability to love each other through the good and bad times to make the year a success. Lori Griffin, a member of the football cheerleading squad, expressed her feelings: "You become so close and involved with each other's lives that all the fun times, sad times, and frustrating times are worth it in the end." The cheerleaders began practicing and encouraging the football team a week before students started to arrive on campus. During this week, they practiced daily and supplied kool-aid to the football players after their practices. Two of the most memorable football games for the cheerleaders were the Russelville Tech game and the UCA game because the fans and the team were pumped. The fans really got involved along with the cheerleaders. They showed their support by yelling and cheering, which encouraged the cheerleaders to return even more excitement. The pep rally before the UCA game was special because of the turnout of enthusiastic fans. The basketball squad also had an exciting season. Monica Kimbrell stated, "Being a member of the basketball squad has been a very enjoyable experience. I can speak for all the girls when I say the memories and friendships we have made will live in our hearts forever. We love to cheer for the Bisons, and we all agree that if we aren't cheering for them, we won't cheer at all." The captain and co-captain for the football squad were Nicole Dawkins and Shannon Banks. The basketball squad captain was Laura Cobb and cocaptain was Ashley House. by Angie Phillips Che~rleaders 195
