Lady Bisons Young . .. have a Bright Future Ahead The score is tied. Thirty seconds are left on the clock. The Lady Bisons have the ball, and freshman forward Kymm Hudson dribbles inside for the shot to win the game. With time about to run out, she goes for the basket and is fouled. Two seconds now remain, and the Lady Bisons need at least one of the two free throws to pull ahead. With all the coolness of a more experienced player, Hudson sinks both free throws, and the Lady Bisons claim a victory over Ouachita Baptist University. Although not all the Lady Bisons games were this exciting, this young team did play well this season. Their pre-season play proved promising when the Lady Bi sons defeated John Brown University in its own tournament. Although the University of the Ozarks beat the Lady Bisons in their first match-up of the season, the Lady Bisons later avenged that loss at home in an exciting 8675 win. The team had only one senior starter, 5 foot 4 inch Kara Hutchinson at point guard. The two junior starters were Karyl Hartsfield and Kristina Smith, both at forward . Nancee Wilson at post and Marla Lewis at guard represented the sophomores. The other Lady Bisons who saw action were A. J. Grimes, Vicki Herekamp, Jennifer Neuhart, Zondra Harris, Angie Hughan, Heather Hill , and Kymm Hudson. Coach Greg Harnden had high hopes for this team in the .next few years. He said, "This is a very young program. If the girls keep improving and we get some good recruits, we could become an excellent team in the next few years." Coach Harnden said the strong points of the team were their size and their physical play. "With some improvement in our ball handling and shooting," said Harnden, "we will become one of the top teams in our conference." by Renee Webb Scoreboard HU OPPONENT 77 Central Arkansas 89 61 U of 0 72 61 Sout hern Arkansas 63 66 Ouachita 64 69 UA Monticello 95 57 Arkansas College 94 62 Arkansas Tech 63 62 Henderson State 61 66 Central Arkansas 98 61 U of 0 73 61 Souther Arkansas 62 71 Ouachita Baptist 63 79 UA Monticello 84 81 Henderson State 68 81 Arkansas College 76 46 Arkansas Tech 84 190 Rival Impressions Front row: Kara Hutchinson, Andrea Grimes, Marla Lewis, Angie Hughan, Jennifer Neuhart, Heather Hill, Zondra Harris.
