.Honor 8ocieties Honor societies offer many opportunities V arious honor societies provided students with an opportunity to be involved with a group within their field. Alpha Delta Mu, Alpha Epsilon Rho, Alpha Psi Omega, Kappa Delta Pi and Sigma Theta Tau recognized students for their academic talents throughout the year. Louise Pace and Mary Shock served as faculty sponsors of Alpha Delta Mu. Jim LaRue, member, said "Alpha Delta Mu helps people who cannot help themPRIMETIME DEADLINE. Alpha Delta Mu works with social work professionals to receive insight on what problems we will face after graduation. Practical experience is not just book sense." Members were selected according to scholastic achievement, character and involvement in their field. Alpha Epsilon Rho, an honor society for Radio/ Television majors, helped members get practical experience within their field. Ryan Gibbons, president, said "A E Rho is a great opportunity for broadcast students to be rewarded for academic efforts. It also helped students to establish contacts with members of their field through conventions, initiation ceremonies and contacts with sister chapters of the society." Dr. Louis Butterfield served as faculty advisor. Membership was by invitation for those with a 3.5 grade point average. Alpha Psi Omega, under the direction of Morris Ellis, honored theater students. Marlissa Thomas, member, commented that, "Alpha Psi Omega rewards theater students who work hard on and off the stage." Kappa Delta Pi, the national honor society for education majors, offered many opportunities to education students with a 3.5 grade point average. Dr. Wyatt Jones served as their sponsor. Sigma Theta Tau, was a national honor society for those with a baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Helen Lambert served as faculty advisor.
