Team ends season with 20-7 record G ood things come to those who give one hundred and ten percent. For several Harding intercollegiate athletes all the giving produced new team accomplishments and individual honors. Finishing match play with a 20-7 overall record, 6-1 in conference action, the tennis team placed two memhers on the AllAIC squad. Freshman Ernesto Tovar and sophomore Ritchie Roberts received the honors. Coach David Elliot was also rewarded for the successful season by being named the NAJA District 17 Coach of the Year. Four members of the golf team were among the top of the individual leaders in conference play. David Converse's 80.2, Robert Master's 81.6, Matt Patton's 82.2, and Todd Rhinehart's 83.3 stroke averages were all good enough for All-AIC Honorable Mention honors. "We had a lot of talent this year," Rhinehart said. "Even though we did not play up to our potential, we still had a good time on the course." Great team and individual strides were made for the women in volleyball. The Lady Bisons' won their first AIC regular season crown with a 43-8 record. Although it was a team effort, several key players were singled out by the AIC for their exceptional play. Making both All-AIC and All-NAIA District 17 teams were Susan Malone, setter, and Tammy Todd, middle hitter. Sophomore setter Stephanie Dempsey made the All-NAIA District 17 squad, while Kelly Willingham made the All-AIC team. Dr. Karyl Bailey, the Lady Bisons' only head coach in the programs seven years of existence, was named the AIC and NAIA District 17 Coach of the Year. - David VanBuskirk GAME PLAN.
