[ Wolllen's Track & Field Runners stormed through '89 season T he women's track team produced endless achievements in their 1989 season. Not only were they the AIC Conference champions, but two Harding runners ended the season with all American standings. Chery1 Bednosky, a senior from Penconic, N.Y., and Letha Stewart, a freshman from Little Rock, received AIC All American standings. Bednosky set three new AIC records. She finished the 1500 meter run in 4:47.40, the 3000 meter run in 10:49.90, and the 800 meter run in 2:21.29. Stewart won the long jump with a distance of 17 feet and 11 % inches. The team spent hours each day practicing for the spring events. - Photo by Sharon Bowles. 64 Endless Activities Another all-AIC event wmner .was Harding's relay team composed of Margaret Eoff, Stewart, Tina Bearden, and Kelsie Hutchinson. They won both the 400 and 1600 meter relays. Kelsie Hutchinson, Melynda Cordry, and Tracey Parkes also were named to the all-AIC team. However, the students weren't the only ones to walk away . with the gold. Coach Ted Lloyd received honors as the AIC District 17 Coach of the year. "We never verbalized any goals," Lloyd said, "but the team and I had an understood goal of winning the AIC conference. The track team re-wrote school records in almost every event." - Lex Owens
