[ Women's Cross Country Runners excell, take conferenee title ' 'Doing your best," the inner theme that is ingrained into each of the cross country runners was sure to be the basis of the team's fourth consecutive conference championship. Senior Melynda Cordry expressed that running helped her to release stress and relax. She said that looking forward to competition kept her motivated. That proved to be true when Cordry outdid herself during her '89 season by capturing an All-American title, a first for the Lady Bisons. However, she did not stop there. Cordry went on to place seventh in the national competition. To add to her physical accomplishments, Cordry also ranked as an Academic AllAmerican. "Each runner is talented and we all participate in what we do well," said Coach Ted Lloyd. He also pointed out that the team atmosphere gives each runner a sense of belonging. The girls got more than just running from being on the team. "I appreciate the friendships that I have made, as well as the satisfaction from exercising and competing," said senior Margaret Eoff. Six Harding women ran in the AIC meet. They were Melynda Cordry, 18:44; Kelsie Hutchinson, 20:10; Jenny Cole, 21:41; Margaret Eoff, 21:49; Carrie White, 21:52; Chandra Latimer, 22:13.
