Last spring was also one of service for Theta Tau as it once again participated in cleaning the area around Camp Tahkodah. The guys made this their pet service project, often fishing or swimming afterward. Theta Tau held its banquet at the Capital Hotel in Little Rock. The next semester 25 new members were added to the club after a night of basketball and pizza. Pledge week also brought Theta Tau and Tri-Sigs together for a devotional. After pledges became members, the club had its hayride - "Raw Saw in t he Straw." Theta Tau found itself blessed by talented basketball players, causing the club to anxiously await the sports season. Member Stephen Dearin said of Theta Tau: "It's a club that puts God first; we let our actions do the talking." Darren Mathews, president of Theta Tau, said, "Theta Tau is a group of guys I can fellowship with on the athletic field and in spiritual activities. It's made my Harding years more meaningful." Tri-Sigs enjoyed an eventful year, which began in the spring of 1989 with a Valentine's Day party at King's Inn in Searcy and participation in all club sports. As its service project Tri-Sigs assisted with Special Olympics. Spring Sing transformed the girls into bookworms as they and three other clubs participated in their show, "It's All Geek to Me." Before 32 new pledges became members, Tri-Sigs enjoyed its hayride at the Carter Farm. Pledges survived Silly Day, during which they were dressed as traffic signals. That same semester brought the club a volleyball championship and a Christmas party at the Conway Country Club. They also donated money to the "Toys for Tots" program. Fall Tri-Sigs president Trish Shanklin said, "TriSigs is a truly diversified club.
