1989-1990 Yearbook

"OEGE has grown into a close and unique club. The club has meant a lot to me as far as allowing me to develop close friendships and grow as a person." - Suzette LaRoche K ing's Men and OEGE worked together and as individual clubs to reach their goals of unity and friendship. On several occasions they combined their efforts successfully. Both clubs participated in Spring Sing '89 in "An Easter Eggstravaganza," a joint effort involving seven clubs that took first place overall in the sweepstakes. In the fall they attended a welcomeback picnic at Riverside Park and, in late November, a Christmas party at the Little Rock Ice Skating Center. King's Men and OEGE completed the year with a joint banquet in Little Rock. At other times during the year, the clubs supported each other at sporting events, service projects and other activities. Individually, King's Men involved itself with club sports. Members participated in football, basketball, volleyball, track, and placed first runner-up in fall softball. They also had a hayride and, as their service project, took trips to the Morrilton Children's Home. There they took the children on picnics and other activities. A banquet concluded King's Men's spring activities. OEGE also had a busy year, which began when the girls won the softball trophy. Then OEGE joined Chi Alpha Rho to form one team for small club football. They went on to win that championship, too. They also participated in volleyball, basketball and track. Other activities included a hayride, Christmas party and the spring banquet. Members of OEGE continued to give their time and energy to the monthly Red Cross Blood Draw. In September, more than 170 students donated at the first blood draw. To encourage participation, donors were asked to indicate their social clubs. After the draw, the men's club and women's club with the highest percentage of members donating received a plaque. The plaque is awarded by King's Men and OEGE each year.
