The whole club seemed eager to grow closer, but at the same time to reach out." - India Medders From banana splits to luaus, Galaxy and Ju Go Ju experienced a year of service, growth and fun together. The fun began in the spring when both clubs donned white coats, stethoscopes and a deranged mentality to perform as mad scientists in their production for Spring Sing '89. The show took awards in participation. Springtime also brought both clubs together for monthly devotionals and two service projects in which the clubs provided food and other necessities for needy families. Both clubs also participated in spring sports; Ju Go Ju took first place at the women's track meet. Individually, Galaxy took its annual float trip down the Buffalo River and finished the year with a spring banquet at the Little Rock Club. Ju Go Ju celebrated Valentine's Day with a pajama party and the end of the year with a formal banquet at a Little Rock Holiday Inn. The fall semester opened with a Galaxy I Ju Go Ju outing at Petit Jean State Park to set a tone of unity for the year. It was followed by several activities in which both clubs participated, including the annual Galaxy/Ju Go Ju banana split sale. After the hot fudge was poured and the bananas peeled, all profits from the sale went to aid missionaries in Italy. The two clubs continued having monthly devotionals. They also met together at Camp Wyldewood during pledge week and again at Riverside Park for a cookout. Galaxy's other activities during the year included a hayride, Christmas party, another float trip, and other service projects. Ju Go Ju had a Halloween party, a barn party instead of a hayride, and a formal Christmas banquet at the Red Apple Inn in He her Springs. Their luau mixer also proved very popular. Galaxy president Matt Kilgore described his club as giving him "many opportunities for growth. Whether at a club devotional, softball game or just sitting in the student center, guys in Galaxy have supported me as a member and challenged me as an individual." - Phillip Tucker Front row: Sonja Nelson, Kara Dunaway, Laura Hicks, Melissa DuBoise, Karen Mayfield, Julie Foriest, Jamie Scribner, Mary Beth Christian, Jennifer Darling, Julie Wilson, Bonnie Dunn, Kara Sanders, Jill Creighton, Miko Fujisawa, Ginger Collins; Second row: Kim Dobbs, Tami Hollingsworth, Jenny Reibling, April Legg, Elizabeth Doyle, Karen DeWoody, Holli Henson, Ashley Bell, Jill Traylor, Shannon Risener, Jennifer Mallow, Eve Flaherty, Velvet Bowers, Sarah Harper, Angie Butler, Amie Machen; Third row: Leah Reaves, Tamie Kempton, Lisa Schroer, Monya Martin, Amy Atkinson, Melanie Johnson, Heather Knox, Jennifer Meek, Joan Chandler, Samantha Rice, Laura Cobb, Brenda Curd, Diane Roof, Shannon Miller, Victoria Bellizzi, Amy Cavender, Stephanie Smith; Fourth row: Britt Thomas, Kathy Thompson, Karen Norwood, Cindy Nichols, Sara Bray, Alicia Fowler, Kristin Webb, Jennifer Jones, Jen Manry, Kerry Dunn, Heather Mullins, Amy Machen, Kristee Lively, Tricia Stanley, Stacey Alexander, Diane Davis; Back row: Scott Genry, Mica McCoy, Julie Burdge, Alicia Bowen, Vicky Ridge, Shannon Waggoner, Julie Owen, Beth Stanley, Claudia Azille, LeAnne Green, Kelly Perry, India Medders, Randy Williams, Anna Stevens, Rebecca Wimpy, Kathy Bruner. - Photo by Sharon Bowles.
