"Phi Delta has been a great inspiration to me. I see a lot of love between members. 'Big things come in small packages' is true of Phi Delta." - Ingrid Thompson Phi Delta enjoyed another year of sharing friendships within the club and outside the club. Members of Phi Delta tried not to allow the boundaries of the club to restrict their friendship-making. Evidence of this mind-set was seen when the girls joined Sigma Tau Sigma, Kappa Delta Kappa, Omega Phi, Beta Phi Kappa and Friends in their Spring Sing '89 production, "Life in the Fast Vein." All five clubs were able to show off their talent after a semester of preparation and hard work. The show added a ghoulish air to the festivities of the evening as members of these clubs, decked out in capes and fangs, became vampires for the duration of the show. Phi Delta had a fiendish good time participating. The show won recognition for its outstanding costumes. Other spring activities that kept the members busy included a Valentine's Day party at the American Legion Hall in Searcy. The highlight of the spring semester, however, was the annual formal banquet at the Little Rock Club in downtown Little Rock. The theme was "Dreams and Fantasies." With the fall came a doubling of the club 's membership from 21 to 40, bringing new faces and new ideas to the club. New members were able to enjoy the annual hayride at Lavon Carter's farm and the next month a Christmas party at the Wyldewood Retreat Front row: Cheryl Rile y, Jill Limbrunner, Laura Blount, Jennifer Rogers, Jennifer Benshoof, Angela Thomas, Laura Deckard, Melanie Hobbs, Angela Hilton, Tammy Clark; Second row: Amy Hawkins, Christina Boaz, Connie Galloway, Jennifer Brandon, Michelle Cox, Amy Spayde, Ingrid Thompson, Leah Tucker, Sherry Pace; Third row: Ian Hong Ng, Susan Castellaw, Jan Gentry, Stacey McCoy, Heidi Pickett, Debra Williams, Darla Turner, Blair Reynolds, Amy Jo Smith, Julie Weibel ; Back row: Marc Metz, Allen McKinney, Gary Bolz, Shawn Hull. - Photo by Sharon Bowles. 224 Endless Friendships Center in Searcy. Phi Delta continued a tradition of service as they monthly cleaned the home of Kenneth and Faye Self, an elderly Searcy couple. They also helped collect food and raise money for the World Hunger Teleconference, and bought Christmas presents for a needy family from the money raised at the ARA carnival, which featured games coordinated by Harding social clubs. "Phi Delta has been a great inspiration to me," president Ingrid Thompson said. "I see a lot of love between members. The old saying, 'Big things come in small packages' is true of Phi Delta.
