So. 212 Endless Faces Second semester students experience new beginnings N ervousness, excitement and even fear often result from the changes in coming to Harding during the second semester. There is the fear of not knowing what to expect, the surprise of seeing so many new faces and having so many new names to remember - and the duty of making all those first impressions later than most people had to. While it often wasn't what they expected, new students experienced many good feelings. "Although my first impression of Searcy was one of disappointment," said new student Fred Young, "I soon came to know the people of Searcy and Harding University as a people of love, kinship, and spirituality, making my journey here more worthwhile than I could ever have imagined. " Transfer student Alethea Short felt "a lot of excitement in meeting peers, and received a lot of acceptance." And freshman Loree Walker said, "I really thought adjustment would be harder than it was." For second-semester students everything seemed new and different: the food was good, the dorms were nice, people were friendly, and there was a lot to do on campus. They noticed the positive atmosphere at Harding and, said several transfer students, there were more campus activities here than at the school from which they transferred. With an exciting semester behind them, the second-semester students no longer felt new. - Leslie Hammond
