The Student Association, led by President Craig Cheatham, represented the student body in various activity planning decisions. They brought to the campus, movies, concerts, and comedians. Some of the big hits were Charles Green (magiciancomedian), Craig Anton, Dan Mendez (Juggler-comedian), and the ever-popular singing group, The Oak Ridge Boys. Once again, the SA was responsible for the campus Christmas lights. Future Alumni Communication Team, in conjunction with the Alumni office, helped plan various activities for Harding alumni. They were the intermediary between former students, the University, and present students. Their activities included Parent's Weekend, Homecoming, and the Black and Gold Banquet. They also played a big part in Spring Sing/Youth Forum weekend and High School Days. JOY was a service organization that was very well known on the Harding campus. Their motto was: Jesus first, others second, and yourself last. The members formed committees. Some of them included the children's committee, with the big brother/big sister program; the elderly committee, with the adopt-a-grandparent program; the Literacy committee; and the correspondence committee, which put members in contact with Christians in other countries. They were also involved with the student lectureship, which was held in January and they held devotionals for the women of Harding. The Inter-Club Council, which acted as a liaison between the social clubs and the administration, discussed the new policies for pledgeweek, and added three new clubs. Each club had a representative who attended each meeting and, in turn, reported the meeting's topic to his or her club members. Celeste Selby, representative, felt that the ICC was something to be proud of because "it's a core group of people coming together; instead of a larger, unorganized group." - Carmelita Bandy SA, FACT, VISA, ICC, JOY 131
