,;- Mass Communication: TV 19, KHCA, Bison, Petit Jean and PRSSA provided broadcasts, publications and public relations awa~en~ss on campus C ommunication students received many hours of practical experience by being involved with the PRSSA, the Petit Jean, the Bison, KHCA, and TV 19. Public Relations Student Society of America "provides students the opportunity to work and benefit others in the field of public relations," said member, Jennifer Terry. They served the community by editing the Searcy Chamber of Commerce Newsletter. The Petit Jean staff strove to produce a quality yearbook for Harding students. It was edited by Jennifer Terry. Sharon Bowles served as head photographer. Kimberly Nunn was the assistant editor. Lilli Carlton, Melydia Clewell, Janelle Mc Farland, Shawn Morgan, Shannon Romine, Brian Speer, Phillip Tucker, and Randy Williams served as section editors. The Bison staff continued the student newspaper tradition at Harding. They produced a weekly edition. Angie Haley served as editor and Mark Hodges as assistant editor. The format for the Bison was simi11r to that of USA Today and Jroved popular with the student body. KHCA, Harding's own AM 56, was broadcast on campus. The station was student operated. Dr. Lou Butterfield was the executive producer and Scott Fossey was the student director. They provided news and hit songs for Harding students. TV19 had two reappearances this year: Lou Butterfield, with a doctorate, and Big 'D' TV. Steve Frye also new to the station, served as co-executive producer with Dr. Butterfield. The station proved popular with such shows as Arkansas Live (an Arkansas travel show), the Game Clock (a sports show), and Cooking With Kern. - The Petit Jean Staff SERENITY.
