,, , I Bu~ine~~ Or~anization~: AMA, Society for the Advancement of Management, Economics Team and Pi Gamma Psi promoted business a~areness on campus P i Gamma Psi, The Economics Team, SAM, and AMA were designed to accommodate today's young business person. Pi Gamma Psi strove to keep accounting majors aware of happenings in their field . It helped prepare them for getting a job by having mock interviews. They had meetings with guest speakers and held an ethics seminar. Dr. Don Diffine sponsored one of the "winningest" Economics Teams to date. They placed first 6 times. They participated in "formal intercollegiate competition to design and implement free enterprise programs for campus and community use," said Dr. Diffine. They maintained that each person is "free" to be whatever he wants, if he has the "enterprise" to be it. The Society for the Advancement of Management was an organization for the general manager. They strove to improve the quality of their knowledge, performance, and leadership ability through communication and interaction with other management professionals. They had monthly chapter meetings and received publications on improving management skills. According to its president, Lorin Bristow, the "American Marketing Association was designed to promote marketing as a field." The organization kept marketing majors up to date on what was happening in their major. AMH had its annual conference in New Orleans in the spring. They also held a case study competition. Harding's AMA team took second place in the nation for their case study of the marketing plan for the 1990 census. The organization also produced a magazine called Marketing News. - Lilli Carlton TAKING THE LEAD. Anna Conley, Pi Gamma Psi member, sings a solo in the Harding production of "Brigadoon." Pi Gamma Psi kept accounting majors aware of happenings in their field. SING IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT! Julie Svymbersky, AMA member, and a couple of friends really sing out in a Spring Sing performance.
