,_, Music Groups: C-MENC, Student ACDA, Thundering Herd, and Concert Choir educated and entertained students and guests F uture music teachers, music majors, and those· just interested in music had many opportunities to pursue and practice their chosen field and interest through the Concert Choir, the Thundering Herd, C-MENC, and the student ACDA. The Concert Choir sang for many Churches of Christ. In the fall, they attended an all night "Sing Song" at a Church in Texarkana and the Abilene Christian Choral Festival. They also sang at a "Clean-Up Day" in Heber Springs. In the spring, they visited St. Louis, singing at various locations along the way. They also sang in Memphis. The Concert Choir was under the direction of Dr. Arthur Shearin. The Thundering Herd supported the Bisons during the football games; and the band, led by Drum Major, Johnny Scott entertained the fans during halftime at the games. The members enjoyed being together and rooting for the Bisons. Percussionist, Jennifer Brandon said, "It's a great way to make a lot of friends - we get real close." C-MENC, the student affiliation of the professional organization for music teachers, attended workshops in Little Rock and Pine Bluff. They served the music department by providing refreshments at music auditions and keeping those auditioning occupied while they waited. The organization was co-sponsored by Dr. George Baggett and Dr. Warren Casey. The Harding chapter of the American Choral Directors Association was an organization for students interested in choral directing. They attended a regional convention in Little Rock and assisted with an allstate audition workshop on campus, among other activities.
