Gibbons reaches goal: membership in Alpha Chi Ryan Gibbons from Wooster, Ohio, visited Harding when in high school and found the student life on campus to be that of a friendly, Christian-like environment. But another aspect that influenced his decision to come was the growing academic program in the Mass Communication department. Gibbons, a senior Radio/TV major, will graduate in December 1990 with a great amount of experience and leadership qualities. A member of Alpha Chi, Gibbons recalled his freshman year when he made a resolution to work hard to become a part of this organization. He said, "I knew it was a real honor and something to strive for. I worked toward it and now that I'm in, I know that it was worth it. It was a great opportunity to meet prospective employers at the conventions we attended." One such convention in Oklahoma City, Ok. , allowed Alpha Chi members to present their papers and projects which in return gave business representatives a chance to scout for prospective employees. Gibbons was Devotional Director and ICC representative for Alpha Tau Epsilon social club and beau for Gata social club. He was involved in various groups and organizations, many in which he held a high position. These included sports anchor for TV19, sales director for KHCA, president of Alpha Rho Epsilon, committee chairman of Campus Ministry, producer of "Big D TV", assistant producer of Word Windows, and a member of Future Alumni Communication Team (F.A.C.T) and Gethsemane Gospel Group. Concerning the future, Gibbons planned for possible graduate work- in business and then pursue a career in a Christian broadcasting firm.
