P roviding free education for those interested in learning sign language and closing the gap of communication with the deaf, were the main objective of the Dactylology Club. The club offered two classes; one for those at the intermediate/advanced stage and one for those who were just beginning. 'The club helped everyone who wanted to communicate with the deaf. It made the deaf happier to know that we were trying to learn their language," said Debbie French, president. The fraternity gave students the opportunity to attend tournaments where they competed against top notch schools. The club's· national tournament and convention was held during March in St. Louis Missouri. Aside from these individual events the team was also involved in debate. The Student Speech and Hearing Association was designed to help students learn more about the communications fields in and about the employment field in the world around them.
