ENGLISH Staff strives to provide the best educational experience E nglish meant more than just diagramming sentences. It was a form of communication of knowledge. Under the direction of Dr. Dennis Organ, the department concentrated on always improving the educational level. To do this, faculty members attended several workshops. Some attended the Christian and Literacy Conference in October and several took part in the National Convention of the National Council of English teachers in November. Other activities that took place included the Creative Writing contest, formerly the Jo Cleveland Writing Contest, and the Annual Awards Banquet. Ray Wright topped off his education when he completed his doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi in Septemher. The department also received some new computer software for the writing center through the Learning Association English Program. When asked what change he would like to see, Organ replied, "Our main concern is to help English teachers to do the best job of teaching the general education courses. We believe what we're responsible for in education is crucial and we want to contribute to the depth of the student's education." -Aprilyn Murray DECISIONS, DECISIONS.
