VICE PRESIDENTS Enrollment offices combined under new leadership Dr. James W. Carr was appointed this year to the new position of Vice President for Educational Services. "Formerly, all the enrollment offices were spread all over the campus. Now all the common enrollment functions are together under one person,' ' said Carr. The enrollment development functions include the admissions office and the offices for the physical plant, financial aid, career planning, and placement, testing and research, and continuing education. Carr also supervised the American Studies Institute and studied the student body and increasing enrollment. "So far we've been successful. The incoming class was a good class." Lott R. Tucker, Jr., served as Vice President for Finance. Tucker's on-campus duties included controlling the school budget and supervising the grounds and other physical facilities. Tucker was also busy serving in the community. As Vice President for Development, C. Floyd Daniel supervised Harding's fund raising efforts. This was an especially important year as the school sought to meet the Mabee Challenge. To receive the $1.25 million grant from the mabee Foundation, the school was required to raise $2.5 million by December 31, FINANCE. The money from the challenge was used for building the new men 's dorm and for remodeling the American Heritage Center. Dr. Neale Pryor has held the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs since 1983. Though it is a time-consuming job in itself, Pryor continued to teach and served for a time as the acting Dean of Bible and the School of Religion. Pryor was also in great demand for preaching and for holding gospel meetings. After serving as Vice President for Student Affairs for nine years, Ted Altman resigned, effective May 8, 1989.
