' A ~"".,.-:" ~~1·, . /I' r~ij~[~u Took on a spiritual t_wist as students saw foreign lands while on campaigns Harding offers many opportunities to serve the Lord in a variety of mission fields. Senior, John Sheppard said, "If any student desires to serve the Lord and test what spiritual direction they want to take their life, they should experience it." International Campaigns, directed by Don Shackelford, sends students to England, Scotland, Italy and Australia. Other efforts include Venezuela Campaigns, directed by Bill and Ava Conley, German World Campaigns overseen by Jack McKinney and African Campaigns under Van Tate. Global and South American Campaigns were headed by Ron and Faye Doran. For those who wanted to stay closer to home, Campaigns Northeast and Northwest, under Ross Cochran and Amy Jordan sent groups to states such as New York, New Jersey, Oregon and Montana. Whether across the world or here in the United States there's no doubt that campaigns had a long-lasting effect on students and host congregations alike. Senior, Rebecca McDonough said, "I went over with a vague idea that I was going to help the church in Italy. I thought of what I could do for them, but I didn't realize until I got there how much they would do for me. I discovered you can't outgive the Italian Christians." Most students raised support to go on campaigns through letters written to friends, family and churches. Students attended meetings to prepare for the work each individual campaign required. As long as there was a desire and a need there will be the outreach effort of campaigns. The attitude of most students was that you can't understand what a campaign was or what it does until you've really experienced it. To sum it up Senior Matt Wissinger said," "You can't beat the feeling," - Savannah Morley "FATHER, FATHER." Australian campaigners, Mark Story, graduate, Lance Bailey, Tamara Toland and Mike Brown, all juniors, performed "Father, Father, I think I'm gonna die". Skits provided an entertaining form of evangelism during the campaigns. - Photo by Julie Jones. Campaigns 115
