1987-1988 Yearbook

As in the past, Sigma Tau Sigma's primary concern was the spiritual development and activities that brought the entire club together as a group. They also maintained a very close relationship with their sister club, Kappa Delta Kappa. Beginning the fall semester with softball, Sig Tau developed a team spirit which held throughout the year as the club participated in all major small club sports. As the club song "Make Me A Servant" suggests, serving others became the hallmark of Sig Tau as they involved themselves in several service projects. One such project was very successfully launched during Lectureship Week, as the club was transformed into the Lectureship Shuttle Service. They transported speakers to the Little Rock Airport and back, and also shuttled them around Searcy, which required several hours of work from each member. Also, Sig Tau had its annual "Egg Beg" to raise money for the Arkansas Children's Hospital. The club's membership and spirits were both lifted as 12 energetic pledges completed a grueling week of pledging activities, bringing the active membership• to 29. Pledge Week ended with Roo Woo, the final initiation ceremony, followed by a pizza party and an overnight campout at Heber Springs. Sig Tau and Kappa Delta participated in Spring Sing ' 'irl, as they were ·~ Maid Up For the Butler." They took awards in theme and participation. A new sponsor was brought into the club this year: Rowan McLeod of the Development Office. He joined sponsor Dr. Ray Muncy, chairman of the history department , in guiding Sig Tau to a red-letter year. Club president Mike Anderson said, "Looking back, spiritual growth was always first on our priority list. As our club verse dictates, 'Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power' (Ephesians 6:10) , Sig Tau didn't settle for the mediocre, but instead strove for excellence in service, dedication and unity. Every memb~s best was the standard." 04Sigma Tau Sigma 0 Brother and SL ~er Clubs MIKE ANDERSON... "Looking back, spiritual growth was always first on our priority list.
