Jodie Murray, a senior from Carthage, MO, received in women's cross country the All-AIC and the All-NAIA District ll Cheryl Bednosky, a junior from Paconic, NY, won All-AIC and AllNAIA District 17 in both women's cross country and women's track. - photo by Bill Tripp. 154 Athletics All-Stars rom season to season, athletes were honored for their achievements in their various sports. This year, 28 men and women were recognized as the top performers in their field. Barry Jones, serving on Harding's baseball team, was awarded the All-AIC and All-NAIA District 17. "I felt extremely honored to be named All-AIC, but without the help of my teammates, it never would have happened," said Jones. The football team was honored with many allstars of its own. Kenneth Forte, Mike Alexander, and Mickey Adkison were all awarded AllAIC and All-NAIA District 17. "It was a real privilege to get an award such as this. It wouldn't have been possible without the help of the team and their effort," said Adkison. Forte and Adkison were further awarded with an honorable mention. Brooks Davis was recognized as CoSIDA District VI Academic All-American. "In my opin-ion, it took the entire effort of the the team to achieve my personal goals," said Davis. NAIA Scholar Athlete and CoSIDA Academic All-American awards were given to Jack Moore. Representing the golf team, Cliff Hayes and Toby Taylor both received All-AIC and AllNAIA District 17. Men's cross country had six representatives who were recognized as top-notch athletes. AllAIC and All-NAIA District 17 was awarded to Mark LaValley, Jon Murray, Rich Lockhart, and Jon Partlow. ''At first, I was disappointed since I got second place, but if you are going to lose, losing to your teammate makes it better. I was really excited about the team winning because I know how hard each one of us worked for that goal. I would say that the season was successful because I felt our team was pretty consistent with several younger runners. Our leaders this year were pretty good in helping us keep our goal objectives on target," said Murray. Sean Prine was honored with the NAIA Scholar Athlete Award. Shannon Hughes was an important asset to Harding's basketball team. He was named to the All-AIC and AllNAIA District 17 lists and also earned the Bobby Reese Memorial Award. - Judith Yearry Cheerful chuckling. Mike Alexander, a sophomore from Duncan, OK, excelled in football and received the All-AJC and the All-NAIA. Mickey Adkinson, a junior from Tulsa , OK, received the All-AIC, All-NAIA District 17, and the All-NAIA District 17 Honorable Mention in football.
