Bazley was one of many faculty members that served as a coach for one of Harding's intercollegiate athletic teams. - photo by Hernan Riverol. 180 Physical Education * * * Actively speaking * * * P roviding a strong academic program in physical education, health education, and recreation in addition to administering one of the best college/university intramural programs in the country and a competitive intercollegiate program in a strong NAIA conference placed a big responsibility on Dr. Harry D. Olree, chairman, and his colleagues in the Department of Physical Education. A rapidly increasing number of majors gained recognition as teachers and coaches. In March, 1986, Coach Ted Lloyd lectured for the United States Sports Academy in Saudi Arabia . Coach David Elliott attended the Mexican National Junior Tennis Clinic, while Dr. Karyl Bailey directed a gymnastics camp in Broken Bow, Okla., for 100 students. Numerous workshops, clinics, and camps in various sports were conducted on campus. Members of the department were ~cti~e in v~rious professional state orgaruzahons. <t>
