Ganus Accelerates Efforts to Complete Campaign Choosing to follow the well-established policy of retirement of administrators at the age of 65 rather than to accept the invitation of the Board of Trustees to serve an additional five years as the chief administrator, Dr. Clifton L. Ganus, Jr., accelerated his efforts to complete the goals of the "Endowing a Destiny" campaign before his retirement in the summer of 1987. During his last two years, President Ganus has as his goal the raising of $13.1 million for operational supplementation, scholarships, improvement of buildings and programs, and increasing the endowment $3 million. The Lord has blessed us abundantly and a multitude of alumni and friends have supported our efforts." In January, 1985, Dr. Ganus set up the Harding School of Biblical Studies in Nassau, Bahamas. During the summer of 1985, he travelled in Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Belize to implement the Sam Walton Central American Project, recruiting students for Harding. In April, 1986, for the second consecutive year, he took a group of Board members to Florence, Italy , to see the Harding University in Florence program that has been in operation for five years.
