Crew Conceives campaign C reativity was essential to two clubs here on Harding's campus. These organizations were the Art Guild and the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). The Art Guild, according to its president , senior Robert Swain, from Conway, Arkansas, was "a relaxed club of art majors and others who are interested in art." This year , the guild's activities included a scavenger hunt, which provided props for the Art Department's still-life room, a fundraising art sale with a Christmas theme, and a shirt-printing party. Members of this organization had the opportunity to share ideas expressed in modern art, art trends, and special techniques used in creating works of art. Another creative group on campus was the PRSSA. They were particularly active this year because of its major project in the fall - the Levi's 501 Blues Campaign . Windows around campus were decorated with neon signs displaying the Levi's logo, in order to help advertise for the campaign. Winning publicity privileges for this project allowed members of the association to plan and implement an actual publicity campaign for the blue jean company. Calling themselves the Blues Crew, members planned the "Crank-It Radio Contest," which involved searching for the perfect car stereo, and a 5.01-kilometer fun run . Other activities sponsored by the Blues Crew included OEGE social club's blood draw and the Ugly Shirt Contest. Contestants in this contest appeared on Channel 12's very own "Chris Clarke Show. " Finalists were awarded cash prizes, while the winner received a free pair of Levi's 501 Blues . Free pairs of blue jeans were also given away to listeners of KHCA. The campaign cumulated in the fall with the November fashion show, in which the Levi's clothes line was promoted and presented to the student body. Betty Ulrey, sponsor of PRSSA, was pleased with the campaign. "It's done a lot for our chapter," she said. "It's made the participants see what can be done in the way of public relations." _4tt Concert #501. One of the many activities sponsored by the 501 Blues Crew was the Sla ter and Wells concert. The concert was well attended , and the audience was treated to some live country entertainment.
