It was a professional organization for Home Economists. The organization here at Harding was a student-member section, but the students get to be involved with adults who are already involved in their occupation. At Harding, we were fortunate enough to be involved on the local level, as well as the state level. We had two state officers: Stephanie Whitesel, the third vicechairman and Lisa Stuck, the presidentelect. Students were involved in several types of activities. They attended a leadership conference in the fall, a state convention in the spring and meetings during the year . The organization was designed to expose students to opportunities in the field of Home Economics . The student-members have a chance to be around people other than their teachers who are involved in Home Economics, a chance to develop leadership and become better home economists and hopefully , in the process of all this, have a little fun! The organization held high in its goal, informing Home Economics majors about the field of Home Economics and continually improving the program here at Harding. ,~ The Harding University Dietetic Club consisted primarily of dietetic and institutional food majors. By staying in close contact with the professional dietetics organization, the American Dietetics Association, the members developed professional pride as well as gained current information in the nutritional field. The club existed to provide opportunities to learn more about the fie ld of dietetics and the professional career opportunities that were available. To enhance their knowledge, the club hosted several nutrition speakers, visited the Southern Living Cooking School, toured local hospitals and was active in the "Looking Good" nutrition awareness program on campus. During the month of March, they participated in National Nutrition Month, by distributing nutrition information to students. a American Home Economics Association.
