Spirit to,.Compete "I got interested in cheering when I was attending the Harding Academy," said Stacey Green, captain of the 1983 football cheerleaders. "There was not any sports for girls when I was there. I wanted to participate for my school and 50 all that was left for me was cheerleading." Green did take part in sports in her home town of Searcy, Ark., but decided to quit so that she could spend more time cheering. When she got to college she decided to cheer for the Bisons . "I had cheered for six years at the Academy and every girl that cheers for the Academy dreams for cheering for the Bisons," commented Green. _ us!;" Doums As captain of the football cheerleaders. She did not cheer during her sophomore and junior years in college so that she could devote more time to her studies, club and other interests. "I decided to cheer again especially since there were two squads," said Green. "I enjoy cheering but doing it from August until March was too much. When Green graduated in May she took with her fond memories of Harding Academy and Harding University, especially the times she spent cheering. Her own enthusiasm and school spirit was spread to all that saw her. At every game she was able to instill in others the spirit to compete.
