Coach Lloyd, a professor of health, physical education and recreation, joined the Harding faculty in 1964 after serving as football and track coach at Harding Academy in Searcy from 1957-1964. Lloyd began coaching Harding's track team in 1966 and became the cross country team coach in 1968. The Bisons track teams under Lloyd have won conference titles in 1966, 1981 and 1982 and were runners-up in ]967, In the fourteen years Lloyd has been coach of the cross country team, the teams have won thirteen Ale championship titles. No coach or school has achieved such a succession of championships - thirteen consecutive titles and counting. Lloyd's biggest achievement came this summer when he was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame, at the Track and Field Division in Charleston, West Virginia. Lloyd has had other honors bestowed upon him. He served a two-year term as President of the NAIA Track Coaches' Association starting in 1977. Then, in 1978, at the National Outdoor Meet in Abilene, Texas, Lloyd served as head referee. He also directed the 1973 and 1974 national meets in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, He is currently serving as one of the NAIA representa tives on Track and Field Association of the Un ited States. Lloyd has served as first vicepresident of the Arkansas Association of AAU in 1966, 1976, 1977 and 1983. Definitely a high point in Lloyd's career was when he was selected to serve as head coach of the United States AAU Track and Field Team that participated in the Brazilian AAU Games of 1974 in Rio de Janiero. Earlier in 1972, he was one of twenty-five coaches nominated as assistants for the Munich Olympic Games by the Board of the United States Olympic Committee. Not only is Lloyd a good coach but he shares his knowledge of the sport with his athletes. This fact shows up in that fifteen of his athletes have attained NAJA All-American status. ~ - David O.
