Warner LeRoy's two-act play was based on the trial and crucifixion of Jesus, with a retrospective look back at the memories those present at the cross had concerning the event. as the Young Spectator, Connie Hill as Rebecca, Ron Lyons as Sara, Kelly McCox as Thomas , JoElien Noland as the Blonde, Carla Thompson as Mary Magdalene, Todd Thompson as Elias, Geanetta Walker as the Nun, Mary Withen as the Second Spectator and Voices , and Marneda Wade as the Stage Manager. The script was updated and modernized considerrably by Miller with an l8-member cast performing it. Included were David Asbill as John, Stephen Grimsley as Judas, Scott Harris as Peter, Becky Maupin as Mary and Robin Starck as Pilate. Also in the cast were Allen Gran'berg as Caiphas, Jay Copeland as the Third Spectator, Tim Covington as David, Julie Grahn 44 One Act Plays "Antigone ," a drama centered around the conflict of personal rights and state's rights, was presented March 26-29 under the direction of Morris Ellis. The conflict arises when Antigone (Tina Hawk) gives priority to personal right and dignity of self and family over the decrees of sta te proposed by her uncle, Creon. Cast members included Brett Phillips as Creon, Shari Nelson as lsmene, Billy White as Haemon , Mary Jane Baker as Eurydice, Gerry Scott as The Messenger, Tom Strother as Tieresius, and Debbie Young as the Chorus Leader. In addition to the delightful Homecoming rendition of "Fiddler on the Roof ," 10 other shows were produced by the Harding Speech Department during 1983-84. Eight student-directed, one-act plays during the fall semester comprised the bulk of these, with spring productions of "Between Two Thieves" and "Antigone" rounding out the Harding theatrical season. Opening shows were directed by seniors Kim Hudson and Jo Ellen Noland Nov. 21 in the Little ' ... . - - John J, RlldrlifJc Theatre, where all but one of the one-acts were held. Neil Simon's "A Visitor From Forest Hills" was the choice of Hudson , and included cast members Tim Johnson, John Moore, Lisa Taylor, and Teresa Woodruff, with Brent Childress as stage manager, The story centers around a couple trying to coax their daughter out of the bathroom on her wedding day. The fina'] round of one-acts was staged Dec. 6 with "Chinamen ," "The Boor," and "If Men Played Cards As Women Do. " "Chinamen"was directed by Connie Hill with Jeff Mansur as stage manager. The play is about an accidental dinner invitation to a man, his former wife. and the woman's new boyfriend. - Bruce Cook
