- Grllg Ozbin! Foreign Language Club, sponsored by Mrs. Anita Hamilton, was made up of students that had had one year in a foreign language class or could speak more than one language. This year Foreign Language Club provided the school with a Christmas tree that was decorated with ornaments from other countries. the games to come. Key Club contributed to the whole schoo l by helping purchase school equipment and by having a male member lead the Pledge of All egiance each week in chapel. Key Club, a senior high service organization, started the year by searching for projects that would improve the school. Early in the year they cleaned up the two new softball fields in preparation for Although being in Key Club in· volved hard word, the members got a treat every two weeks throughout the year when two d ifferent members met wi th Searcy Kiwanis Club for a luncheon. For the Wildcat basketball fans , though, Key Club's most important ro le was running the concession stands at home games. New vim and vigor was added to the Speech Team with the coming of Mrs. Leigh Ellis , who formerly coached a team at Central Arkansas Christian. Unlike many recent speech teachers, Mrs. Ellis organized the group with plans to stay with it for several years, and hoped to build up the speech and drama department. Members of the team attended the Central High School speech festival as observers before they began to actually prepare pieces for competition.
