262 Kirei Demonstrating the Spirit of Beauty Although the girls got off to a slow start the first semester, they banded their energies together in an effort to revi talize the group spirit. Cheryl Wilburn, devotional director, stated Kirei 's goal simply : "We're trying to unify the club." The length and confusion of the induction period tired everyone and bred a good deal of apathy among the new members ~ Despite thi s setback , they did enj oy ac ti vities such as a prayer breakfast with Chi Alpha Rho and a devot ional with Pikes. The girls also had a Christmas party , a bunking party and a sunrise devo at B-rock. Even in sports, the spirit of bonding together became apparent. Lisa Pigg, a sophomore Engli sh & French major , and a member of Kirei 's basketball team commented, "When we participate in sports, we play to have a good time , to enjoy the cort;l.pany of our team and that of the opposing team, and to learn to work together. " Through their excellent sportsmanship on the Aoor, this was evident. Kirei participated in 1983 Spring Sing with Chi Alpha Rho as Eskimos and exhibited that same quality of loving spirit. "It was a pleasure to work with Kirei," commented LeeAnne Exum, Chi Alpha Rho's Spring Sing music direc tor . "The long hours were taxing but fun - their attitude played a big part in the friendships we made between clubs." _ lohn I.
