1983-1984 Yearbook

Set Apart by Active Participation "Let your ligh t shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Fathe r in heaven." This though t was prevalent in the minds of the Delta Omega me n's social club as they faced another yea r of unknown su rprises. Induction Month added eleven new members to the fourteen present to fo rm a small club with obvious potential in the 1983-84 year. Deltas were p roud of their small numbe r because eve ryone was involved. President Kevin Klein stated his fee li ngs by saying, "I'd rather be in a dub wi th twe nty-five acti ve _ Ch, i5 Dei members, than to be in one with fifty members that wear jerseys." The cl ub 's sma ll number did no t deter them from bei ng act ively involved in club sports. Deltas provided other clubs some vigorous competition as they played softball, volleyball, football, bowling, basketba ll , and swimming. The ir endeavors brough t them closer to each other and also gave them the oppo rtun ity to have a good time with ot her friends in other clubs. Delta Omega conti nued to "let their light shine" throughout the year by sponsoring comb ined devo tionals with several clubs like Sigma Tau, Kappa Delta, and Omega Phi . .The devotionals were uplifting to all those who participated and placed Delta Omega among the leaders in the a ttempt to achieve interclub uni ty. Perhaps the foremost goal of the guys in Del tas was to to uplift each other by being themselves and accepting others for who they were. The guys had excellent opportunit ies to be themselves as they sha red in various activities throughout the year. The year began with a cookout at Riverside Park. The cl ub fo ll owed Ha rding trad ition by having a hayride and a Christmas party. Howeve r , in January Deltas vio lated the idea of conventional parties by having the first beach party ever held at Harding University at the Old Gym . The guys had several ga ll ons of sand to set the right mood. The party wasn' t exactly up to par with those held in Cal ifornia , but it sure added a touch of summer fun in the middle of winter. The members di d enjoy the waters of Arkansas when they went on a canoe trip in the spring. The club 's spring banque t was a great way to wave the year goodbye and to begin making plans for the upcoming one. Until next year. rw 1. Delta Omega. Row 1: (left to right) Cilalldler.
