Future Doctors Prepare for Harding Road I Barristers College Bowl Pre-Med Club The Barristers formed to combine learning and fellowship for students in the club , the group's main focus being placed on preparation for law school admission tests. Most of the members were serious about entering law as a ca reer although some were simply curious about the subjec t. For pre-law students, Barristers offered members many opportunities to determine whether being a lawyer was what they reall y wanted. Several forme r students who had taken the admission tests and had ,become successful lawyers re turned to speak to the group and share their experiences. During a club cookout in the fa ll, the Honorable Darrell Hickman of the Arkansas Supreme Court addressed the group. Barristers also toured the law school in Fayetteville and visited with law school deans at the University of Arkansas and Memphis State Un iversity to ga in more realistic insights into the profession. " College Bowl required knowledge in varied areas and speed in recalling the knowledge and answering the questions. There was not a standard way to study for the intramural competiti on, so the games were usually close and always fun. This year, the largest number of teams in the four years of Coll ege Bowl at Harding competed in November and December. Out of the 32 teams, there were four bracket champions; Fifth Column, Mind Brokers, Delta Omega, and Deja Vu. The Fifth Column was the victor with members, Neil Thompson-captain, Keith Williams, David Smith, and Eddie Medcalf. Sponsors Dr. Larry Long, Dr. Dennis Organ, and Dr. Fred Jewell readied the five allstars for the regional contest by drilling them for speed and accuracy. The five members of the team, Britt Bircham, Kyle Northam, David Smith, Neil Thompson, and Gregg York traveled with the sponsors to College Station, Tex., on February 23 for the three-day competition where they played against teams from Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. f:@
