Everyone at one time or another experienced the mental catastrophe of forgetting an answer to a test question. Occasionally each of us had to at least fill in the empty white space so the test paper would not appear to be quite so blank. Recognizing the creativity of his stumped studen ts, Dr. George W. Woodruff, professor of biological science at Harding, compiled a list of some of the more ingenious answers his students gave when in a bind. They follow. 1. Charles Darwin was a naturalist who wrote the organ of the spices. 2. Benjamin Franklin produced electriCity by rubbing cats backwards. 3. The theory of evolution was objected to because it made men think. 4. The three kinds of blood vessels are arteries, veins and caterpillars. 5. The dodo is a kind of bird that is nearly decent now. 6. The process of turning steam into water again is called con- 19. versation. A magnet is something you sometimes find in a bad apple. 20. The earth makes a resolution every 24 hours. The moon is a planet just like the earth, only deader. 26. The pistil of a flower is its only protection against insects. 27. An example of animal breeding is the farmer that mated a bull that gave a great deal of milk with one that produced good meat. We believe that reptiles came from amphibians by spontaneous generation and a study of the rocks. English sparrows and starlings eat the farmer's grain and spoil his corpse. By self pollination a farmer may get a flock of long-haired sheep. Dew is formed on leaves when the sun shines on them and makes them perspire. Vegetative propagation is the process by which one individual manufactures another individual by accident. A supersaturated solution is one that holds more than it can hold. A triangle with an angle of 135 degrees is called an obscene triangle. Blood flows up one leg and down the other. A person should take a bath once in the summer and not quite so often in the winter.
