1983-1984 Yearbook

> The changing of tradition - this was the ma~ jor theme of the homecoming musical, Fiddler on the Roof and it was also a major theme of the 83-84 school year. Many organizations changed tradition but the basic unit that underwent and often brought about these changes were the individuals - the students of Harding University. In this section is a record of these students. Tradition changes in organizations were only an outward sign of the inward changes taking place in the hearts, minds and souls of the students. After a school yea r that had had more than its fair share of tragedy and turmoil, people were ready for a new and better year. And they did not sit around and wait for something better, they made it better. The ICC, composed entirely of students, had the seemingly overwhelming job of transforming Pledge Week into Initiation Month, a task that was well done. The SA initiated a change in women 's curfew, the first curfew change in over a decade. However, not everything changed about the students. They were st ill late for chapel and classes . They still went to lily pool devotional s everywhere except the lily pool. They still had to dodge the water sprinklers as they went from class to class and students st ill enjoyed playing frisbee on the front lawn. Never again will the entire following group of people ever corne together again on this earth. As one looks through the following pages, they shou ld remember that it was this group of individuals who made the 83-84 school year the year that it was. And , as they come back to visit Harding in the future . they are sure to find some of their new ways will have become old traditions. - Scott Col/ills Student s Editor Inside Students Seniors 128 Juniors 156 Sophomores 164 Freshmen 172 Second Semester Students 180 Christian Communications Program 182 Graduate Students 183
