For t he fa ll semester t he Art - Slaff Pholo Department generated 1,321 stu· dent semester hou rs of credit and had 66 declared majors. For 1981·82, there we re 13 graduates with a maj or in art. Department of Biological Science Multifaceted Program In addition to providi ng an im· portant field of spec ialization; the Department of Biology was important in t he general educa· tion program as we ll as providing important serv ice cou rses for home economics, nursing, physi· ca l ed u cat i o n , psyc ho l ogy, speech therapy, e leme n ta ry education, and various preprofessional programs in the hea lth sciences . The genera l educat ion course emphas ized a few major concepts rather than being a sys t emati cs taxonomic study. Dr. Michael V. Plummer can· tinued his outstanding herpetological research , assis ted by some of his students. He was in· va lved in biological resea rch with t he University of Arkansas Medical Center on Research on snake blood and w ith biologists at Memphis State University on the mal e reproductive cycl es in snakes. Dr. Plummer was invited to present a seminar on " Bi o l ogy of Green Snakes" at the University of Arkansas Medical Center.
