Contributing to the campaign to send Bibles to Russia and sponsoring youths for the summer leadership conference also were part of the S. A. service agenda. A major special project committee effort involved gathering the name, classification, address and phone number of each student and compiling al l the information into one handy Student Directory. Hours of typing and correcting went into the work. Continuing a long-standing tradition, the S. A. crept on to the front l awn in the wee hours of a December morning to decorate the campus for the yu le season, leaving in their path wreaths in the bell tower, decorations in the trees and candy cane stripes around the Harding swings. A number of students served in some capacity on the S. A. by involving themselves with one of the nine committees of the student government. The spiritual li fe committee, chaired by Tim Petree, planned devotionals, prayer sem inars and other related activit ies to encourage and promote spiritual growth and development. A new committee was formed to look into the possibility of moving Pledge Week from the fal l to the spring semester. Other Pledge Week revisions also were examined. Committee decisions were formal~y introduced to the deans at the end of the fa ll semester, thus ending the life of the committee.
