Playing in the Boll Weevils' "Snake Pit", Harding held Monticello's tall center, James Crockett, to four pOints and defeated the Weevils, 56·52. A third consecutive conference win came at Conway as the Bisons dropped defending conference champion Hendrix by the score of 75·73. Freshman guard Danny Starkey hit two clutch free throws in the final seven seconds to pace the Bison · win. Harding connected on 25 of 27 free throws, including a perfect 21 for 21 in the first half. In addition to the wins, another honor was bestowed upon a Bison. For his performance against Hendrix and UAM, Gardner was selected as the NAIA District 17 Player of the Week.
