1981-1982 Yearbook

Tuesday Devotionals Strengthen Club Alpha Omega and Delta Chi developed greater unity by par· ticipating in a diversity of joint activities. Throughout the year the two clubs met for devotionals on Tuesday evenings. "My own sense of belongng was heightened by the ideas and feelings that we shared at these get·togethers," said Alpha Omega member Chris Thomp· son. Other events within the two clubs included "mass dates" to the movies and local Italian restaurants (pizza parlors). Roller and ice skating excursions, and a picnic featuring coed softball and "New Earth" games provided a unique escape from the campus scenario. Danny Crow's farm was the sight of Delta Chi's annual Fall Outing. Members and their dates enjoyed a hayride in the Arkansas countryside and were greeted by a blazing bonfire. Following refreshments and games, the evening culminated as those present listened to tales of horrid ghost stories. In keeping with the theme "Haunts of the Past," Alpha Omega and Delta Chi claimed first place for the third consecutive year in the Homecoming float competition. Following an all-night construction party, several Delta Chi women added the finishing decorations on their entry entitled "The Ghost of. Godden HaiL" Sports was also an area of competitive involvement for both clubs. Alpha Omega com· peted in all areas of intramural competition and claimed first place in club bowling. Delta Chi fielded teams in basketball, bowling, softball, speedball and volleyball, In December, members visited Morrilton Children's Home to host their Christmas Party. While some members played games with the younger children, others helped the older children create decora· tions for the Christmas tree. "All those who went and par· ticipated, thought it was an uplifting experience," said Thompson. '£.<\ 1.
