The Timothy Club, although a requirement for Bible majors, was an organization that presented speakers for every Christian's en· joyment. The club, under the faculty supervision of Jerry Jones, was led by three students - Foster Caffi, John Walker and Paul Fike. The group met on the average of once a month to hear to Biblical experts. Fike, a senior from Jackson, Miss., spoke about the varied speakers, "Timothy Club is an excellent opportunity for Bible majors and others to obtain knowledge about areas not covered under Harding's present curriculum. Things like campus ministries and urban evangelism could prove very helpful to some." The club 's fall program included such people as Bob Mtze and Kenneth Reed. Topics discussed ranged from "The Cost of Discipleship " to "Pulpit Evangelism." The spring brought such preachers as Doug Kostowski and Lindsey Garmon. Also in the spring, members of the club visited the Harding Graduate School of Religion to examine its curriculum and facilities. The World Evangelism Forum was a campus-oriented group which 'co'.mbined all campaign , missionary and evangelistic efforts - Don HoI/and on campus for the purpose of edifying and encouraging each other. In fact, vice-president Steve Awtrey said , "It's not really a club, it's an organization that sponsors mission-oriented opportunities and activities." Everybody should be involved in evangelistic outreach, Awtrey continued. explaining that the group was open to all and was not just for campaign members. One of the forum's regular activities was the hosting of missionaries and evangelists of the brotherhood to speak on campus once a month. A few of the speakers during the 1980-81 school year were Bob Mize. Her- - Slfvi Photo man Alexander, Jimmy Adcox and Dave Weidner. The group also sponsored a seminar each semester. During the first week of the fall, the group sponsored the ."Fall Retreat" at Camp Wyldewood. The "Winter Advance" was. held in the spring on campus for student convenience . Perhaps, however. the WEF was best remembered by the many chapel ~nnouncements given by Awtrey and president Monte Cox which ranged from operas to comedy. - Mark Albright - Don Holland 1.
