Anderson, a social science major from Jacksonville, Ark., only began diving competitively two years ago. After a one year stint on the Bison football team which ended as a result of money problems, Anderson went out in search of a sport. It didn't take him long to locate one very complimentary to his talents. With helpful advice from others, the use of the trial-anderror method and long hours of work, Anderson soon became an excellent diver to be reckoned with at AIC championship time. In order to improve throughout the year, the divers, Richard Andrzejewski,. Jim Davenport, and Anderson, read books and watched films of the past diving greats. The Harding diver, who competes in both the one and three meter board competitions, finished last year with many honors for his achievements. Anderson not only placed third in the one meter diving and fourth in the three meter competition, but won the Harding University Diver of the Year award. Anderson's goals for the. all-important Ale championship meet included a second and a third place finish in his respective events. Hendrix, the traditional powerhouse of Ale swimming, was expected to furnish the first place finisher in both competitions. Anderson, who plans to attend law school upon graduation, had many fond memories of his time spent on the team. "In the three years I've been on the swim team, I've seen it grow and become a close bunch of people. We've had good teams and not necessarily because of lots of talent. They are just a bunch of guys who want to win. Swimming and diving time was definitely one of the more enjoyable parts of my year." - Jimmy AI/en - f)Q" HoI/a"d SHOWING precise form. senior diver Rusty Anderson begins a dive off the three meter board. 297 Swimming and Diving
