Freshman McNutt added a new dimension to the Bison games wi th his breakaway slam dunks fo llowing steals. His jumping ability amazed the crowds at home games and many times his dunks were just what the Bisons needed to start a come back ra1· Jy. Fan support reached a peak during the season. On several occasions, both sides of the stands in the gym were fu ll or near capaci ty. Thi s was a definite advantage fo r the Bisons in their games on campus. "The fan support really helped us this year," Gibbons mentioned. "Everyone knows that our fans are the best in the league. Sometimes we had more fans at away games that the teams we were playing." Several games were exciting during the season, ' but every player said that the con· test at Arkansas College was by far the most exciting. In the second overtime period, with the score tied and no time left on the clock, Treadway hit a fr eethrow fo ll owing a foul. " When Treadway sunk that free· throw, it was like the air was let out of the ball ," explained Brent Alexander. "It had to be the most exciting game of the year." The Bisons completed the season with an 8·10 conference record , good enough for fift h place.
