Scholar-Golfer Receives Cliff Shaw Award Dan Sears Senior Dan Sears. a biology major from Bloomington, Indiana, was named the recipient of the Cliff Shaw Scholar-Athlete Award. A member of the Bison golf team for three years, Sears graduated summa cum laude with a 3.976 grade point average on 142 semester hours. He earned two intercollegiate letters in golf and ranked fourth among his teammates on the 1980 AIC championship team. Sears was active in the Premedical Club and was accepted into the University of Indiana Medical School at Indianapolis. He was a member of King's Men social club DAN SEARS, 1980 recipient of the Cliff Shaw Ale Scholar·Athlete Award. and was admitted to Alpha Chi. At the 1979 biennial national convention of Alpha Chi in New Orleans. he was co-author of a research paper presented on the student program en titled, " Biological Rhythmicity." In his junior year. he also received an award for outstanding student in t~e course of Beginning French. He was nominated in the spring of 1980 for an H.Y. Benedict Fellowship awarded by the National Council of Alpha Chi. The prestigious Cliff Shaw ScholarAthlete Award is given annually to the senior AIC athlete posting the highest academic grade point average who has earned at least two athletic letters in Ale sponsored sports. - Ken Bissell 287 All-Stars
